“Soul in the Machine”
Part 2
“I Am Me, Right?”

I often heard from my former human colleagues in the Avengers that on several
occasions they have waken up in the morning and look in the mirror and not
recognizes them selves. Claiming that now they see a new person with a
different, however, the feeling eventually wears off. I have never been able
to understand or comprehend what the feeling must have been like, until now.
Now, as my brain chip, my soul, my mind sits outside my body and projects a
green holographic form overseeing the withered old frame of my old body. I am
equally confused as I look to the other end of my lab and see a new similar
body being constructed. In two hours, 7 minutes, 46 seconds and 4 milliseconds
from when my entry I will transfer my consciousness into my new body. This
will, as the humans say, kill two bird with one stone, since this new body is
not from my 2001, and it will have a more aggressive performance.
I have suddenly also begun to understand what the humans described when they
said that their “new person” had a different. Perhaps the same can be said for
my new more offensive body. I have learned from previous battle that
extendible arms, enhanced strength, speed and an advanced computer are not
enough to deal with catastrophes and meta-criminals that ravage the Earth in
this time period. That is why, with the help of my hard drive aid Elizabeth, I
have added Napoleon to the tactical main frame. Napoleon is a composite of all
of histories military leaders, having battle strategies ranging from
Washington to Hitler. I am not worried about the little bits of personality
that are come when a battle strategy is played out ( I feel that the personas
are best when to help execute plans that sometimes only work with that certain
person), since ultimately , I am the dominating personality. If Napoleon
suggest a ploy which I do not find ethical or constructive then I can simply
not use it.
The new body is roughly the same design <To the readers: It looks just like
the Machine Man in Vision’s Timeslip section> there are no contours, making it
slick and less clunkly; the extendible limbs use thousands of vicron alloy
cylinders allowing faster snapping and more maneuverability; there are 137
separate offensive locations or transforming weapons; the overall structure
uses lighter but harder metals and ceramics; my anti-bodies have been
formatted to repair damage faster and more effectively; and I have also
changed the color of my faces and eyes to white and red to give a more
frightening look to scare both civilians and enemies. This will strategically
scare away civilians and lower enemies’ performance.

Machines Man’s green “ghost” turns towards a large blue screen to the right
of him.
Machine Man-Elizabeth!
Loud clicking sounds and hums boom from the console and picture of a
Victorian women flashes onto the screen.
Elizabeth-Yes?
Machine Man-Locate the chrono pirate that confronted me.
Elizabeth-This will take 45 minutes, 7 seconds....
Machine Man-JUST GET ON WITH IT!
Machine Man’s “ghost” turns towards his old body and winces as he runs his
hand across it crumpling surface. The sound of the the area that crushes in
his hand’s wake is dulled by the hum of the tube sucking the anti-bodies.
Machine Man frowns as he snaps his hand off the mechanical mass and floats
towards his new body.
A three dimensional blue print appears and Machine Man outstretches his hand
towards it. Over the next 42 minutes he adds 41 offensive outlets to the 137
already there.
Elizabeth-Search complete. Davis is located in Roger’s Shack, on Agnus Grove,
New Orleans, Louisiana.
Machine Man-Good. Connect me to the nearest television or radio system to Davis.
Elizabeth-Confirmed.
	Machine Man’s ghost fizzles out...
	New Orleans:
The damp bar’s floor is is filled with unconscious bodies, forming a circle
around the hulking, figure of Davis leaning over the counter. He motions his
hand towards the cowering bar tender on the other side of the counter.
Davis- I’ll ‘ave ah nudder one of dem Budweesers....
*FIZZCLICK*
The the white and black visage of Machine Man appears on the screen.
Machine Man-Hello Davis.
Davis wobble himself upright and looks towards the screen.
Davis-Wwwwhhought! I thought I killed you, what ‘ur you doing alive.
Machine Man-Shut up Davis, meet me on the cliff.
Davis-What cliff?
Machine Man-*Sigh* The one you cowardly attacked me on!
Davis-Oh that cliff.
Machine Man-I’ll see you there in one hour.
Davis-Hah! One hour is nothing, I can just port my-self there in a jiffy.
Back in Machine Man’s lab
Machine Man-Is my body ready and is Napoleon up linked?
Elizabeth-Affirmitive. But the main awareness wall is not up yet.
Machine Man-Can he do battles yet?
Elizabeth-Yes, but...
Machine Man-Then upload me.
Back in New Orleans
Davis slowly wobbles up, and grabs a bear can from the bar tender. He pops
open the can, tips his hat and says before he is consumed in white light.
Davis-Don’t worry kiddies the trip *whulp* the trip.....
One hour later in Florida
Davis-...get rid of me drunkenness.
Davis appears in a flash of light, holding the bear can towards his lips...
*WHULPWHULPWHULP*
he drinks the whole can down and throws it to the air.
*SLISH*
He slashes it the can in half.
Davis-If only they had that stuff back in my day...
*WHAM*
A large purple object lands straight into Davis is chest , tripping him onto
the ground. Machinery and wires spew onto the floor, their sound dulled by the
repetitive beeping emitting from the object.
*BEEP*
*BEEP*
*BEEPBEEP*
*BEEPBEEPBEEP*
*BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP*
*CRAKCHOOM*
The object explodes in a maelstrom of fire and metal, launching Davis down
the hill.

*CRUNCH*
Davis body flips and slams down the rocky ridge, breaking his bones and
bruising his flesh.
*CLING*
Davis’s shriveled form slams against Machine Man two metal ankles. He slowly
looks up at two blood red eyes.
Napoleon-See? The Trojon Horse method work, now thow him down to the mall.
Machine Man slams down and clutches Davis neck. He lifts him over his head
and throws Davis behind his back. He jumps down with Davis, towards the Mall.
*WHAM*
*WHAM*
Amidst the repairs and construction workers Davis crashes into the rubble
backing and even bigger hole. He struggles towards his feat and falls on his knee.
*WHAM*
*WHAM*
Machine Man breaks through the wall the walks towards Davis.
Davis-*GASP* NOOO, GET AWAY!
Davis turns and limps down the hall. Machine Man begins to run, but then stops.
Napoleon-Don’t run, fast walk, it will scare him more.
Machine Man continues with his walk.
Repair Manager-Get out of here, haven’t you done enough!
Machine Man ignores the Manager and continues with his stride. The Manager
runs up in front of him.
Repair Manager-LISTEN TO ME WHEN I’M TALKING TO YOU! YOU FREAK!
Napoleon-Get rid of this annoyance.
Machine Man draws his fist to his shoulder and swings it at break neck speed
to the man’s face.
*WHAMCRUNCH*
The managers flies into the concrete wall, staining it with his blood as he
slides down.
The managers crew scurry around him and slowly ease his blood soaked purple
face from off the floor.
Crew Member-He’s unconscious!
Crew Member-His nose and cheeks are broken and his cuts are really deep!
Someone get a doctor!
Napoleon-Ignore them, he had it coming. Now run, you need to catch up with him.
Machine Man speeds, taking strides of one foot per step and indenting the
floor. Davis pants frantically as he turns his head around, exposing a face of
deadly fear towards Machine Man.
In desperation, Davis grabs one of the construction works and brings his
blade towards his throat. Machine Man screeches towards a halt.
Davis-D-dd-don’t cooom anny cc-cca-loser! I’ll k-ka-kill him if if if y-yyou
m-make wha-wha-one ma-more step!
As the construction worker pleads for his life, Machine Man frowns his blood
red eyes.
Napoleon-Shoot through him. It’s one life for hundreds more.
Machine Man lifts his right arm and straightens it at the two men.
*WHURRCLICK*
A small cylinder emerges from Machine Man’s forearm and lights up, aiming a
red light to the worker’s stomach.
Davis and worker-YOU WOULDN’T!
*WHISH*
A sharp black dart rips from out of the the cannon, drilling through the air
towards it’s shocked targets.
Machine Man’s eyes and face join them in a state of shock and realization.
Machine Man-WHAT AM I DOING!
Machine Man tears through the ground as he sprints in front of the managers
and takes the the full force of the dart.
*SLISH*

worker’s throat. He tears him away from Davis’s chest and lands punch to

fist back to the side of his head. And pauses.
Napoleon-What are you waiting for? FINISH HIM OFF!
Machine Man-No.
He drops Davis’s limp body on the floor.
Napoleon-FINISH HIM! HE KILLED YOU!
Machine Man-NO!
Machine Man’s eyes squint in shame, if he could cry, he would. He turns his
head towards all the remaining workers and looks down to Davis’s shriveled body.
Machine Man-I’m so sorry.
He kneels down and tears off Davis mechanical belt and chest plate and turns
towards the hole he made in the roof.
Machine Man-I’m so sorry.
Machine Man leaps out of the mall and back onto the hill.
*THUD*
Napoleon-YOU WEAK BABY! YOU SHOULD HAVE KILLED HIM! YOU’RE NOT WORTHY OF THIS BODY!
Machine Man-Napoleon key codes:off.
The buzz of Napoleon still remains.
Machine Man-Napoleon key codes:off.
*ZIIZZZIZZZTHUD*
Machine Man falls onto the ground and goes into convulsions.
Napoleon-I am in control now, “Aaron”!
-To Be Concluded-
Wow! That took forever. At least it twice as long as the previous part, I hope
that makes up for the long wait kiddies. :) The next part will be even longer
than this one and will take about a week and half or two. But believe me, it’s
worth the wait! Be here in 14 or so days for the final battle between Aaron
and Napoleon! Oh, and please give me a review of this issue or the previous
one. It does have to be long, just several stars out of five and a brief
critique is enough for me. My mail is nltpinchuk@worldnet.att.net!
