Story: Antonio Zaragoza used to wrestle as a masked wrestler (more commonly known as a luchador) to help pay his way through a graduate program in sports psychology at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ("National Autonomous University of Mexico"). While he did eventually earn his graduate degree, he gained most of his success in the ring as El Ojo ("The Eye," named after the third eye sewn into the forehead of his mask).

He kept his wrestling identity a secret because he knew his conservative family wouldn't approve of such a flamboyant occupation. For a family of doctors and lawyers, being a luchador wrestler would be seen as a move in the wrong direction. Antonio's family had expectations for him and they didn't involve fighting other men in a ring while wearing a silly mask.

Antonio selected the name El Ojo due to his studies of psychology and the idea of the mystical third eye. In a way, it was an attempt to bring the two worlds of his interests, wrestling and psychology, together into one. With a unprecedented run of successful matches, El Ojo was on his way of becoming a national champion. He had his face planted on posters and in advertisements. Kids shouted his name. He was on top of the world.

It all came crashing down when he received the news that his family had been killed by a criminal gang known as Las Sombra ("The Shadows"). His parents and siblings were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The news devastated Antonio so much that he retreated from the public life as El Ojo and left his wrestling career behind him. He withdrew from the world and threw himself into his studies of ancient rituals and intense meditation. After years of contemplation, he discovered a way to channel his inner psychic energies to improve both his mind and his body. Antonio even learned how to tap his inner power and project it from his eyes. He discovered that his 'Power Vision' allowed him to weaken living targets. It had no effect on inanimate objects.

After five years of intense training and solitude, he had finally found a sense of inner peace that help fill the void that the death of his family had left behind. Antonio emerged from his forced isolation only to find that the gang Las Sombra were terrorizing the public in Mexico City. He knew he had to do something so he pulled his dark blue and silver mask from storage and became El Ojo once more. This time he was going to do something before anyone else got hurt by the senseless violence that followed Las Sombra wherever they went.

El Ojo started his investigations on the streets roughing up lowlifes to get information about the Las Sombra gang. He soon learned that they control most of the crime in Mexico City. They had muscled out the various other criminal gangs and have taken control of the underworld. It was from this ground work that El Ojo befriended Detective Herrera, who shared El Ojo's passion to fighting crime and injustice, and he learned of the identity of Las Sombra's leader, a mysterious crime lord known as El Vampiro!

El Ojo was familiar of a luchador known as El Vampiro. That wrestler had been forced to resign in disgrace after killing an opponent in the ring. El Ojo remembered the rumours that the luchador had claimed that his mask was cursed and it made him bite his opponent's throat, killing him. The officials did not believe his story and turned him over to the authorities. When he was about to be arrested for his crime, El Vampiro escaped and disappeared into the night. Now El Ojo knew what happened to him. El Vampiro had become the top crime lord of Mexico City.

El Ojo made his way to Las Sombra's headquarters at a posh mansion on the outskirts of Mexico City. Under the cover of darkness, he was able to sneak into the mansion, while avoiding the abundant security measures. His true sight allowed him to see the various security sensors that would have been invisible to the naked eye. He soon found himself in the basement of the mansion where, to his horror, he discovered several dozen people who had been kidnapped. The gang were draining them of their blood to feed El Vampiro's blood lust. El Ojo tripped the building's fire alarm and called Detective Herrera to tall him about the people trapped in the basement.

After short fights with Las Sombra members, El Ojo soon found himself facing their leader, El Vampiro. El Ojo informed him that his criminal operation had been defeated and he was next. The two ex-luchadores confronted each other and a large battle between the two juggernauts erupted. The battle was brutal but El Ojo emerged as the victor. Unfortunately El Vampiro was able to escape before the police and firemen arrived. El Ojo was hailed as a hero and it was the start of his career defending the weak and seeking justice.

To this day, El Ojo acts as the protector of Mexico City. El Ojo is more than just a bruiser (granted he does enjoy a good throw-down), he uses his mental and physical discipline to maintain his mind and body at peak efficiency. Over the years, he has fought a slew of villains both in his home city and beyond (in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and in Japan). He has defeated such villains as El Noche Bestia (The Night Beast), Dama Infierno (Lady Inferno), the Basilisk, Murder-One, the Weather Witch, and the criminal duo of Bushranger and Hellfire. Of all the villains he has encountered, it is El Vampiro who has made it his mission to destroy El Ojo.
