Villains of the Golden Age:

BLACK WOLF (Rico "Papa" Pasquinelli):
An Italian immigrant, and one of the earliest known supervillains. He could transform to a half-wolf form at will, and displayed incredible strength and resistance to injury. He was known to be more easily affected by silver - but the full moon had no known effect on his powers. He disappeared in the late '40's, possibly returning to Italy.

DR. DeSADE (Lucien Ripert):
A criminal mastermind who plagued the U.S. until 1950. He routinely played various games on the city's wealthy elite, causing humiliation and ruin. He displayed a penchant for kidnapping, sadistic torture, and was a bisexual rapist. However, it was never proven if he ever killed anyone, or even instructed others to kill.

HARPY (Wendy Trundle):
A criminal genius of the late 1920's who created a set of detachable wings, which acted much like a glider. She used them to access penthouses, stealing whatever valuables she could carry, and then glide away. She was regularly pursued by the detective/hero Steel Joe.

MR. MAGYSTON (Karl Gruber):
A stage magician who was forced by the closing of many of the large burlesque theaters to turn to a life of crime. He used special effects and sleight-of-hand to commit his crimes and get away. Penny Dreadful finally put him away in 1939. He was released from prison 10 years later, and eventually died of a stroke in 1970.

YELLOW GHOST (Wu Sin):
A chinese crimelord who came to America to build a new criminal empire. He used tongs already in New York to execute his schemes. After constant opposition from Tombstone he moved to Chicago, only to suffer defeats by Penny Dreadful. He was never captured until years later when he was rounded up into an incarceration camp in the western U.S. during WW2. Once in the camp Penny Dreadful, now retired, uncovered his identity and reported it to authorities. He stood trial for his crimes and committed suicide in prison.
