Origin and Background: (Japanese) Ryosuke Fujiwara was just another archaeologist who specialized in the Ancient (Nara) Historic Period. He, like so many of his colleages, toiled in obscurity as he worked on expedition after expedition. It was while he was on Professor Kamogawa's expedition to the Nagaoka-kyo site (near Kyoto) that Ryosuke's jealousy grew. He hated being under the shadow of a man who he felt was his intellectual inferior. He thought he deserved better and it wasn't right that a man with less talents than he should be head of the expedition. One night Ryosuke came across a large strange sword carved with ancient writings. As he touched the sword it burned slightly but the sensation soon ceased. As he held the heavy sword in his hands, he could feel the hatred in him grow as he finally realized what he had to do. He gripped the handle of the sword and suddenly he was transformed into a powerful creature of hate. Ryosuke knew instantly the true nature of the Rakúrai no Hà (technically, Blade of the Thunderbolt) and accepted its gift of power. He proceeded to slaughter the whole Nagaoka-kyo expedition while in a fit of fury. He has since caused great destruction in his homeland and is a menace feared by many. |
