Origin and Background: (American)  Cynthia Page was a popular actress who starred in many B-Movies and Serials. The audience fell in love with her charm, wit and grace and she went on to star in even bigger roles. At the height of her movie career, she was often seen at the arms of some of Hollywood's leading men. She was a close personal friend to Errol Flynn and it was rumoured that she even had a brief, but intense affair with Clark Gable. Cynthia Page adored the life of Hollywood and her fans equally adored her.
It was during her filming in the Amazon for the Paramount picture, "Nokora, Queen of the Jungle", that she acquired her unusual abilities. An accident on location caussed Cynthia to be knocked into the river and the current quickly swept her away before any of the film crew could rescue her. Amongst great panic and trepidation, a search was immediately started for their missing leading actress.
Unknown to the film crew, Cynthia had been rescued by a tribe of nearby Indians. They mistook her strange animal skins and unusual jewelry to signify that she was an animal spirit in human form. They immediately took her to their shaman, Witota, since only he was capable of dealing with the spirits. Witota prepared a special concoction of sacred herbs, roots, animal offerings, and a few unknown substances. He served this bubbling, foaming mixture to Cynthia in an attempt to heal her wounds.
Sweat poured from Cynthia as she endured the night's sleep in a fever induced dream. The shaman, Witota, watched over her as he chanted and prayed to the jaguar spirits to protect and aid her recovery. Witota knew that his prayers had been answered when a large, ghostly jaguar slinked from the protective cover of the jungle and stalked towards them. He continued to chant his protective spells as the spectral jaguar walked up to Cynthia and literally merged with her restless form.
The next morning, Cynthia awoke from her fevered state with her physical wounds healed. She fealt an animalistic power surging through her body. With renewed vigour, she thanked the tribesmen, especially Witota, who saved her life. She returned to her normal life as a movie star, but began to grow restless. She craved for something greater than just acting. Several months later, Cynthia took up the mantle as a "Mystery Man" (or in her case, a Mystery Woman) and started to fight crime. While she kept the origin of her powers a secret, she didn't hide their existence at all. In fact, she loved the additional spotlight that her powers brought her. Her activities only made her a bigger star in Hollywood than before.
In 1941, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, she was offered membership in the Mystery Brigade (the Golden Age American super-team). Cynthia, now known as Feline, eagerly accepted. She proved to be a faithful and loyal member as fought along side her comrades against sinister Axis agents. After the war, she retired from public life and returned to the Amazon to search out the shaman who was instrumental in giving her powers. It is unknown what happened to her while she was in the Amazon, but Feline was never heard of again... until the present when another Feline appeared from the Amazon jungle. It remains to be seen if this is the same Feline or someone else who has taken up the role.
