The Satsujin Ryodan are a high-tech mercenary organization willing to kill and murder in the name of money. As long as you can pay their fees, you have their expertise at your bidding. They also create high-tech gadgets and sell them on the black market (to the point of surpassing Intercrime as the world's top weapons dealer). The current rumour is that the Satsujin Ryodan have acquired extra-terrestrial technology and are encorporating it into their high-tech weaponry.
The origins of the Satsujin Ryodan can be traced back to World War II. Second Lieutenant Suhara Yoritada, of the 232nd Regiment of the 39th division of the Imperial Army, created what would be known as the 'Murder Brigade' when he was disillusioned by Japan's surrender. He vowed he would keep fighting to get revenge on all of Japan's enemies (native or foreign alike).
After the war, Suhara Yoritada used his influence to secure the loyalties of former officers from his unit who held positions of power with the Japanese government and within the business world. Success followed success as Yoritada and his conspirators massed a large fortune from their illicit schemes. They were so successful that they remained a faceless and secret organization until the summer of 1950.
Their presence became known to the Japanese and U.S. authorities when a Satsujin Ryodan faction attempted to sabotage an U.N. convey, of mainly American ships, that was headed for Korea. Their attempts to mine the U.N. fleet were prevented by the quick intervention of the American super-spy agency, The Phoenix Corps. [see Subject: U.S. Metahuman Agents].
This defeat was a serious blow to the Satsujin Ryodan. They lost half of their organization in a government raid (backed by the American Phoenix Corps), but Yoritada vowed vengeance against the world. The Satsujin Ryodan plotted and schemed their next move as they let the passage of time to hide their tracks.
It was in the early sixties when the Satsujin Ryodan resurfaced, but this time they made the international news. In 1964, they attempted to hold the city of Tokyo as hostage as they plundered it with an army of giant robots. This time it was the Japanese super-team, 'The Akô Seven' [see Subject: 'Echo Seven'], who stopped their schemes. The elderly Yoritada was killed in the resulting battle and the Satsujin Ryodan disappeared into obscurity once more.
In late October 1973, the Satsujin Ryodan reappeared with another ambitious plan, but this time under the control of Yoritada's son, Asano Yoritada. They released many giant mutated monstrocities into the coastal waters of Japan to disrupt all sea travel to the island. This situation took the combined might of the Japanese 'Akô Seven' and the American Science Six [see Subject: Super-Science] super-team to round up and capture each of the mutated creatures. Once more the terrorist cabal disappeared into secrecy.
The Satsujin Ryodan has remained a small fiercely nationalistic terrorist faction until the last decade or so. Once Tygera Katse took the reigns of power, the organization seem to change over night. She purged all of the nationalistic leaders with a well planned coup. Almost overnight, she changed an isolationistic cabal into an organization that the world could not ignore. Tygera used her natural gifts (and her love for high tech gadgets) to make a name for herself and the Satsujin Ryodan on the international criminal scene.
Tygera Katse inherited the leadership of the Satsujin Ryodan from her father when he died an untimely death (it is rumoured that she had him eliminated). She has since taken the organization and built an international force feared for their fanaticism and ruthlessness.
