Story: Raymond Flynn was an anthropologist who spent five years living in the Amazon studying an indigenous tribe known as the Mazagua. This small tribe worshipped a spider god known as Wokala. Raymond saved the tribal chieftain's daughter from a jaguar attack but he was mauled by it instead. His injuries were life threatening so on the chieftain's request, the tribe's high priest used his sacred medicinal herbs and incantations to save Raymond's life. When Raymond awoke after being in a coma for two weeks, he found his injuries had been healed and his body had changed. The tribal high priest told Raymond he had been chosen by their spider god to be the tribe's protector.

Unknown to the tribal priest, the physical metamorphosis had caused Raymond's mind to crack. The gentle, friendly anthropologist was replaced with a carnage-hungry, power-mad maniac. Raymond decided to call himself, Wolfspider, since the old Raymond was killed by the jaguar. As Wolfspider, he quickly slaughtered the high priest and most of the tribe for kicks.

As Wolfspider, he continue to leave a wake of carnage everywhere he went. He eventually made it out of South America and made it back to the states. Wolfspider soon caught the attention of Dark Warlock and the other members of the super villain group known as the Dark Tyrants. Their goal is world domination and Wolfspider's desire for carnage suited their needs nicely. Wolfspider has since become a full member of the Dark Tyrants.
